HAMMOND, La. (AP) - A fire has damaged an office at Hammond Eastside Elementary School.
Fire Chief John Thomas says the blaze was reported around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Thomas as no classrooms were damaged and no one was injured.
Tangipahoa Parish School Superintendent Mark Kolwe told the Advocate school officials are still assessing the damage to determine whether Hammond Eastside Elementary will be ready when school starts Monday.
Thomas said firefighters are still investigating the cause of the blaze, but it does not appear suspicious at this time.
