Baker accepts offer for health services at school

BAKER, La. (AP) - The Baker School Board has approved an agreement with Capital Area Human Services District to provide behavioral health services and training for students at Baker Heights Elementary School and their families.

The Advocate reports the board made the decision Tuesday.

School Board member Dana Carpenter, who also is a member of the human services district's board of directors, said the organization serves seven parishes and selects one school from each district.

The Baker board authorized its superintendent to try to see if the human services district can split its behavioral health services between Baker's two elementary schools - Baker Heights and Bakerfield.

The board gave the superintendent authority to try to negotiate more human services district programs for Baker schools.
