A strong ridge of high pressure centered over Texas into Louisiana will supply a couple more days of high hear and reduced rain chances.
Temperatures will soar into the mid-90s Wednesday & Thursday with northern portions of Acadiana likely topping out in the upper 90s.
Heat indices will continue to approach the "danger" zone (which is 108F or better) but will generally be in the 103-106F range for much of the area.
If heat indices get closer to 108F and night-time lows are closer to 80F, the National Weather Service may issue a "heat advisory" for portions of Acadiana Wednesday or Thursday.
Rain chances will stay low Wednesday, near 10% but could imporve to near 20% late Thursday, mainly for eastern sections of Acadiana.
The aforementioned ridge will lose some of it's grip over the area Friday into the weekend as an inverted upper level trough/tropical wave traverses from the Straights of Florida west-northwestward across the Gulf of Mexico.
This will translate to a better chance of daytime showers and storms Friday into the weekend taking an edge off the hot summer heat.
Rain chances look to decrease again next week.
The tropics remain very quiet with no suspect areas anticipated through next week as dry Saharan air dominates much of the Tropical Atlantic.
