Talk about being fit physically and mentally, one Scott native is going above and beyond.
He won most physically fit and he's a recent graduate of the Lafayette Police Academy.
Take a look at this deputy who strives to excel in all aspects of life and hasn't even reached his final home stretch.
51-year-old Brian Guillory recently graduated from the Lafayette Police Academy after training to be a deputy.
He was oldest in his class against men and women in their 20's and was awarded most physically fit.
"Makes me feel great to be at this age and still compete with the younger ones was an awesome feeling," said Guillory.
His training specialist Shannon Manning says he's a rare one...
"We see some fantastically fit individually come through but guillory was unique," said Manning.
Graduating from the academy was just milestone, he also practiced daily to reach a personal goal.
"It was a goal for me when I turned 50yrs old, I wanted to do something to highlight my year and it was a 50 at 50. Run 50 miles at the age of 50," said Guillory.
Guillory says after the training he's endured, he feels capable tackling any task.
"When you're working for the sheriff department or any other department people are not as nice so we have to physically handle or physically be in good shape to maintain the job," said Guillory.
Even though Guillory has accomplished a lot, he says he hasn't reached his finish line yet.
He plans to compete in October, running in a 3 day race of 133 miles from Krotz Springs to Morgan City.
