According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, during the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to complaints and reports the following arrests:
Brandon Marks, 30, 1031 Hwy. 318 Lot #3, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on August 5, 2013 at 12:42 pm at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office in Franklin on two warrants for theft. The additional charges are the result of an ongoing investigation into the theft of scrap metal from a farm in Ashton during which Marks was developed as a suspect. Marks was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
Heith Thompson, 528 Garber Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on August 6, 2013 at 2:30 am for possession of Schedule I (marijuana), violation of controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone), possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstruction of justice.
Travis Lacoste, 24, 1801 Rose Street Lot #5, Berwick, LA was arrested on August 6, 2013 at 2:30 am for resisting an officer and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of Schedule I (marijuana).
Deputies patrolling the Bayou Vista area observed a vehicle without a license plate light and conducted a traffic stop on Southeast Blvd. Deputies made contact with two passengers in the vehicle who were identified as Thompson and Lacoste. During the investigation, deputies observed Thompson attempting to eat a small amount of suspected marijuana. Deputies also learned of the warrant for Lacoste's arrest. Items of drug paraphernalia were located in the vehicle. Both Thompson and Lacoste were transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set for Thompson. No bond is set for Lacoste.
