LAFAYETTE, La. - Vermilionville Living History Museum & Folklife Park hosts many events each month including its weekly Cajun Jam on Saturdays, Bal du Dimanche (Sunday Dance) as well as year round exhibits. The village is open Tuesday - Sunday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and admission is $10 for adults, $6 for students, $8 for senior citizens 65+ and children under 6 get in free. The community is invited to take a canoe trip on the Bayou Vermilion. $5 insurance fee to American Canoe Association for a canoe or bring your own canoe or kayak and paddle for free. Canoe trips are held every second and last Saturday of the month weather and river conditions permitting. Sunday, August 11 | Acadian Culture Day | 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Acadian Culture Day will focus on family folklore and the activities planned for the day will include: cooking demonstrations, boat tours and canoeing, artist demonstrations, games and crafts for children, table française; a genealogy station, dance lessons, sharing circles, film screenings, music in the Performance Center by Recolte Band and Al Berard Family Band, and ceremony and interview with the Acadian Cultural Preservation Award honoree to be announced at a later date. Admission is free to the public.
Tuesday, August 13 | The Backyard Series | 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
August's topic is Healing Traditions of South Louisiana. The series is presented by the Center for Louisiana Studies and sponsored in part by Decentralized Arts Funding distributed by the Acadiana Center for the Arts and the Louisiana Division of the Arts in partnership with the Vermilionville Foundation. Free and open to all ages.

Monday, August 26 | Les Vues Film Series | 6:30 p.m.
Les Vues is a free monthly film series curated by filmmakers and enthusiasts, mostly from around the state. The films will range from features, documentaries, student film, shorts, animation, etc. that focus on the themes surrounding cultures. August's screening will be curated by Emile Ancelet and he will be screening Trashed. Admission to the film series is free, but a suggested $5 donation will go towards screening and curating costs.
