Lafayette woman stopped with drugs and damages police vehicle

Early today a Jefferson Davis Parish Deputy observed a vehicle traveling west bound on I-10 at a high speed.

The Deputy says he recorded the speed of vehicle by radar at 104 mph. He says he then activated his emergency lights and siren and began to pursue the vehicle, but that's when the drive allegedly swerved from inside lane to right and drove across the right lane nearly leaving the roadway as it was exiting I-10.

The vehicle continued down the west bound exit at a high rate of speed, running the stop sign at the exit and turning south onto Hwy 26, turned partially crossing the raised center median. Deputies say the vehicle then entered the eastbound entrance ramp at a high rate of speed and then suddenly stopped.

The driver, 39-year-old Renee Terese Warren, of Lafayette, was placed under arrest.

While searching the vehicle, deputies located a pill bottle containing a green leafy substance identified as marijuana, 2 packs of zig zag rolling papers, and a partially burnt marijuana cigarette.

Once arrested and placed in the rear of the patrol unit, Deputies say, Warren kicked the rear passenger window glass out of the door frame.

Warren was charged with Speeding 104/70 , Aggravated Flight , Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Criminal Damage to Property.
