Another Hot Week

Another hot week is on tap for Acadiana as a ridge of high pressure centered overTexas remains the most dominant feature in our weather.

There remains enough moisture and instability for the risk of scattered afternoon showers and storms early this week with drier conditions (and lower rain chances) likely for the mid-week period.

A disturbance/tropical wave is expected to traverse westward across the Gulf of Mexico late this week into the following weekend which should increase our rain chances.

Look for highs in the mid-90s and heat indices in the 104-108F range through much of the week.

Overnight lows will continue to stay in the steamy mid-upper 70s.

A better chance of storms by the weekend should bring our highs closer to the lower 90s.

The tropics in the Atlantic Basin remains very quiet with the remants of Dorian now absorbed by a frontal trough in the Atlantic.

In addition, a large amount of dry and dusty Saharan air in the mid-tropical Atlantic will insure that it stays quiet for the next week.
