The Lafayette Parish School System has filled three open positions by hiring from within the system.
Superintendent Pat Cooper named Annette Samec to the principal's post at Alice Boucher Elementary School. Cooper cites Samec's strong leadership skills and understanding of elementary education as the reason for placing her at the school.
Edgar Martin Middle School principal Bobby Badeaux has been named the district's director of athletics and physical education. He replaces the retiring James Simmons.
Early College Academy principal Glynn Robin has been reassigned to the W. D. Smith Career Center, where he will assume assistant principal duties. In addition, Robin will service as the center's liason to the South Louisiana Community College. Cooper says the district is looking to Robin to build up the career diploma program at the Career Center.
School board officials say they will interview candidates for the now-vacant Edgar Martin and ECA principal positions. In addition, the district will interview candidates for a third principalship vacancy, as Scott Middle principal John Pate is retiring on September 5.
