Lafayette City Marshal's deputies arrested a Lafayette man on a string of charges after he led them on a chase along Simcoe and Pinhook streets Thursday afternoon.
According to police reports, Jonah Paddio, 300 block S. Hamner Street, was spotted traveling at a high rate of speed along East Simcoe when deputies gave chase. He led them in a chase around the residential neighborhood at speeds up to 50 mph and almost ran a vehicle off the road on Pinhook Road before pulling into a driveway on S. Hamner Street.
The Lafayette City Marshal's Office said Paddio's vehicle was searched and a bag of green vegetable believed to be marijuana was found under the front seat along with a pistol with obliterated serial numbers was found between the passenger and driver seat with a round in the chamber.
Paddio was charged with no license plate, no registration, no motor vehicle inspection, no insurance, aggravated flight from an officer, resisting an officer violently, simple criminal damage to property, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in the presence of drugs, possession of drugs, possession of a firearm with obliterated serial numbers, and threatening a public official.
Paddio was booked in the Lafayette Parish Jail on the listed charges. The vehicle was towed from the scene and held in evidence.
