BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A state appeals court has affirmed Trucko Stampley's first-degree murder convictions and life prison terms for the 2007 shooting deaths of mother and daughter, Marie and Denise Pedescleaux, and husband and wife, Charles and Ann Colvin, in their Baton Rouge homes.
In his appeal, Stampley contended among other things that state District Judge Bonnie Jackson erred in allowing the state to introduce autopsy photographs of the victims at his trial.
East Baton Rouge Parish prosecutors took the death penalty off the table in late 2011 so the case could be brought to trial more quickly. Stampley was convicted in February 2012 and sentenced in April of that year.
Stampley had pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity.
