A 58-year-old Sulphur man is accused of sexually abusing a child on numerous occasions.
According to a news release, on June 17, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office received a complaint regarding David K. Benoit having inappropriate sexual contact with a female family acquaintance. The abuse began in 2004 when the child was 6 years old.
Benoit was arrested on July 30 and booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center. He is charged with 3 counts of sexual battery; and 1 count of indecent behavior with a juvenile.
Judge David Ritchie set his bond at $200,000.
