MONROE, La. (AP) - A preliminary report on a plane crash in Morehouse Parish earlier this month indicates the plane descended in a steep nose-down dive, coming to rest upright at the edge of a creek.
Two men died in the July 18 crash of the single-engine plane near Oak Ridge.
Morehouse Chief Deputy Brian Shoemaker said 75year-old Clarence Collins, of Dubach, and 28-year-old Jonathan Whitacre, of Indiana, were found dead at the crash site.
Collins was an instructor for Flying Tiger Aviation school of Oak Ridge. Whitacre was a student pilot.
According to the National Transportation Safety Board preliminary report, released Tuesday, the plane, a Champion 7KCAB, sustained substantial damage when it crashed.
The plane was a training plane used to teach students how to spray crops.
