Heat Stays Up, Few More Storms Thursday

The dog days of summer are upon Acadiana with typical heat, humidity but rather slight rain chances expected through Wednesday.

A weakening frontal trough may drop southward across the Bayou State Thursday engendering a slightly better chance of scattered storms.  This impulse will head into the Gulf Friday with rain chances likely to return to the 20% or less category.

Look for daytime highs to continue to reach the mid-90s into the weekend while the heat index tops out near 105F each afternoon.

Other than a few lingering disorganized swirling showers near the remnants of Dorian north of Hispaniola, the tropics remain quiet in the Atlantic Basin.  A tropical wave in the far Eastern Atlantic, may have some limited potential but dusty, dry Saharan air will likely choke this system in the days ahead.

Conditions are more active in the Eastern Pacific with disturbances found south of the Mexican Coast.

Farther west, Tropical Storm Flossie brought some moderate winds & spots of heavy rains to the Hawaiian Islands yesterday, with partly cloudy skies and a few showers lingering today. The storm has dissipated northwest of the Islands.
