VACHERIE, La. (AP) - State police say a 70-year-old Vacherie woman whose car was struck broadside by a pickup on La. Highway 20 died at St. James Parish Hospital in Lutcher.
Trooper First Class Evan Harrell says Virgia Folse was turning left onto Highway 20 from a parking lot at 11:20 a.m. Monday when she was struck broadside by a pickup driven by 52-year-old Kirk Melancon, of Vacherie.
Harrell says both Folse and Melancon were wearing seat belts.
He says Melancon was not cited in the accident because Folse failed to yield the right of way.
