The U.S. Department of Transportation has given an Amelia shipyard $1.1 million to buy a 400-ton mobile boat hoist.
U.S. Rep. Charles Boustany says the equipment will let Seacraft Shipyard LLC work on larger vessels.
The south Louisiana Republican says the grant to buy the lift from Marine Travelift Inc. was made under a program for shipyards providing essential services to commercial and government ships.
Seacraft's website describes the company a "full service shipyard with over 35 years of experience in repairing, re-powering, refurbishing, and converting all types of aluminum and steel vessels."
