DDA hires urban planner

Lafayette's Downtown Development Authority has hired a Canadian urban planner to be its new Director of Design.

Geoff Dyer is relocating to the Hub City to take the position and is expected to begin work in the next couple of weeks. His $100,000 salary will be funded through DDA, the Lafayette Economic Development Authority, and the Lafayette Public Trust Financing Authority.

According to DDA director Nathan Norris, Dyer will work with LEDA and the LPTFA on a number of select projects.

Norris says Dyer will provide downtown developers with free conceptual design services. This, Norris says, will help developers design their projects in a way that attracts more people to the downtown area and raises property values in the area.
