Repairs are scheduled to begin Monday on an Opelousas bridge that has been closed for several months.
The city of Opelousas closed the Heather Drive bridge earlier this year after it failed a safety evaluation.
Mayor Don Cravins says the construction contract was finalized this week. He say the project was delayed because the contractor was finishing up other projects that were delayed by weather.
Officials say the construction should take around eight weeks, weather permitting.
