CLINTON, La. (AP) - An East Feliciana Parish jury has convicted a Port Hudson woman of second-degree murder in the death of a man whose beaten and burned body was found in a swampy area off La. 965 in December 2007.
State District Judge Sam D'Aquilla says jurors voted 11-1 Thursday to return the guilty verdict against 40-year-old Josie Morgan in the death of 38-year-old Andre Turner.
The Advocate reports sentencing has been set for Sept. 18. A second-degree murder conviction carries an automatic life sentence.
Assistant District Attorney Betsy Jones says Morgan still faces an armed robbery charge in West Feliciana Parish. Jones says Morgan and three accomplices, including Turner, allegedly robbed a bar owner a few hours before Turner was killed.
