After four completely dry days across Acadiana a few widely scattered showers popped up across the coastal parishes Thursday afternoon. A slow trend of an increasing risk of scattered afternoon showers and a few storms will continue into the weekend.
Deeper tropical moisture from the Eastern Gulf of Mexico and the Northwestern Caribbean will slowly slide westward over the next 3-5 days.
Best rain chances should come early next week as a weakness in the hot sub-tropical ridge of high pressure develops...this weakness could be a player in the potential tropical system that may threaten the Gulf of Mexico late next week.
In the near term, expect rain chances closer to 20% Friday, 30% Saturday and 40% Sunday. Rain chances of 40% or better will be possible Monday through next Wednesday.
Later next week remains rather questionable with a tropical storm or possible hurricane threatening the Southern Gulf by late next week. Stay tuned.
