American Idol fans traveled from hundreds of miles away Monday in order to see the top ten from last season take the stage at the Cajundome. Louisiana's favorite American Idol, Joshua Ledet was back in his home state after the Westlake native finished in the top three on American Idol this year.
Ledet had the chance to go home to Westlake earlier Monday, sharing the Cajun culture with some of the other finalists.
"I already had a big home cooked meal from my mom, she cooked for me, Phillip, Jessica, DeAndre, Hollie and Skylar, we all went to my house and ate a home cooked meal so it was fun," said Ledet.
Top two finalist Jessica Sanchez said she enjoyed South Louisiana and spending time with Ledet's family, "It's a whole different thing when you're at their house and their home and you just experience where you live and their food was amazing."
For these Idols, it's hard to go anywhere without getting recognized; it's especially tough for Ledet around these parts.
"It's crazy, like I went to Wal-Mart here in Lafayette and everyone came running up to me like they knew me and I felt at home, it felt good being here," said Ledet smiling.
And with two hours until show time, the fans already lined up. Fans sporting signs for several of the performers, but most were on "Team Josh."
"I was excited and we watched all year and we couldn't believe he got to top three, and then all of a sudden it was awesome because he gets to go on the summer tour and now we're here and we get to go," said Graham Rougeou, one of the younger fans.
The hometown fans showed plenty of love for Ledet, and he showed them the love right back.
"I am so proud of him, I am just like tickled pink, like he's my own child," said Ledet fan and family friend Sharon Jacko.
"The support from my home town is the most amazing thing ever so I'm super excited," said Ledet.
