An emotional night in Duson, as friends and family of missing teen, Keiosha Felix gathered for a candlelight vigil. Many gathered at the park in Duson off of Fourth Street to honor missing teen Keiosha. Family, friends and strangers lighting candles and releasing balloons.
"It feels wonderful, it's a wonderful feeling to see all these people out here to support us and what were going through," said Keiosha's aunt Lena Lewis. "I'm very grateful to everyone that made it here today."
Lewis says it means the world to her to know the community is behind the family, praying for the same thing she wants most, the safe return of Keiosha.
"It's putting yourself in the place of having a child," said community member Tammy Charles. "We have children and if it were one of ours, what would we need? And stepping up as a community and that's what it takes, thats what it took for Mickey, and tha'ts what it's going to take for Keiosha."
Police do believe Keiosha is alive, but in danger, and it's that hope that's brought the community together."
"We're just hoping that she makes it back home," said Lewis. "Just praying and hoping that she's safe and she comes back home."
The 15-year-old girl hasn't been seen since April 30th. Three people have been arrested in connection with her disappearance. Two of those suspects are Keiosha's relatives. Now, the community is just hoping to get answers. Those who organized the event didn't even know Keiosha
"I don't know Keiosha personally, but Keiosha has touched many here in the town of Duson," said Duson Councilwoman Marquita Henry. "And today has proven that, everyone came out together for fellowship and to lift her up in prayer."
The two relatives previously mentioned did bond out of jail, but Leon Wilkerson Jr. is still behind bars. The 43-year-old man is facing both kidnapping and rape charges. He was arrested in East Baton Rouge Parish on Tuesday, and is still awaiting transfer to Lafayette.
