Alleged Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested

The suspect of an armed robbery that happened in St. Martin Parish was apprehended by Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office IMPACT Unit.  On July 23rd deputies were advised to be on the lookout for a 1994 Lexus that may have been driven by the suspect in an armed robbery.

According to Captain Ryan Turner, the vehicle was located and a traffic stop was initiated. As deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, it drove into oncoming traffic allegedly causing others to drive off of the roadway.  The driver of the suspect vehicle then exited the vehicle at the intersection of Lombard and St. Jude Street and fled on foot. The vehicle continued to travel on Lombard without a driver and struck a fence in the yard of a residence. The driver was commanded to stop by deputies, but continued to evade the deputies on foot. A police K9 (dog) was deployed and apprehended the suspect.

According to Turner, the suspect was transported to University Medical Center for treatment.   However, he refused treatment from medical personnel. Daniel Ford, 24, of New Iberia was transported back to Iberia Parish where he was booked into the Iberia Parish jail for Aggravated flight, aggravated criminal damage to property, resisting an officer and misrepresenting during booking.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Division then processed the suspect's vehicle and located evidence that was consistent with evidence used in the armed robbery in St. Martin Parish.
